About Mediums
What is a medium?
Mediums are folks who are able to communicate with the souls of people who are deceased. Mediumship is the practice of being a medium. A person who sits for a medium session is called the sitter. In the United States a session with a medium is called a reading. Outside of the US, particularly in the UK, a session with a medium is called a sitting.
What happens during a medium sitting?
During a sitting, the medium communicates with the Spirit of a loved one. Through this connection the medium receives information via their psychic abilities. These capabilities are similar to hearing, smell, taste, touch, and vision. The input is received from the psychic realm. By synthesizing this information, the medium is able to provide the sitter with a message. The message is often what the sitter needs to hear, rather than what they want to hear. Spirits simply offer advice. The sitter has free will to choose to heed the guidance or ignore it.
When would I want to work with a medium?
A medium sitting is helpful for someone looking to connect with their dead loved ones. This can help provide wisdom to the sitter about their current dilemma or inquiry. Some of the most common reasons folks visit a medium are:
For guidance about
Careers
Decisions
Family
Friends
Finances
Health
Home life
Love
Romantic relationships
For closure
Family dynamics are complicated. The passing of relatives can leave the survivors with difficult emotions like grief and guilt. The ability to connect to a soul after they have moved on from Earth, can provide a new perspective on the relationship. Souls tend to gain wisdom after dying that they may otherwise have been resistant to learning while alive. It is possible your abusive family member is waiting to claim accountability for the trauma they caused you.
For connection
A sitting does not always involve connecting with a relative who treated you poorly.
Someone you loved deeply in this life may also come through with a message.
Sittings are a great way to meet relatives who died before you got to know them.
Connecting with ancestors will inform & strengthen your magick and psychic practices,
For spiritual awakenings
To some extent all humans are gifted with psychic powers.
Some folks are aware of their gifts from an early age.
For the majority of people, the power is so subtle, you would not notice it until you are trained to do so.
It is not that your fault for being unaware. The patriarchy does not like to nurture intuitive people.
Organized religion does not condone practices of self empowerment like growing your psychic powers.
Capitalist society has been intentionally designed to distract you from discovering the awe of a united body, mind, and Spirit.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. The medium does not need to touch your hand or any other part of your body to give you a reading. However, some mediums may work by gathering information from an item. It is acceptable practice for a medium to request you bring an item of the deceased relative you wish to contact.
-
Even good mediums may interpret information from Spirit through the lens of their own experience. The best mediums catch themselves in the process and ask Spirit for clarification. You can count on Calla for bias free Medium sittings.

Not all mediums are inherently evil. The ones I have encountered operate with remarkable integrity. I think its important for the sitter to feel safe during the entire sitting. The basis of this question originates from patriarchal religion. These organizations seek to control the dissemination of information. They want to control all of us. Of course they label a group of people, mostly women, who will not follow their ideas of capitalist god, as evil.
